Pack Haul
Sturdy travel bag with wheels, designed specifically to fit a fully packed hiking backpack.
Who
I’m heading on a backpacking trip with a 65L pack. To check it at the airport, I put my backpack inside a moving bag, which technically worked, but carrying it around the airport was a nightmare. What would be amazing is a sturdy travel bag with wheels, designed specifically to fit a fully packed hiking backpack. Ideally, it could stand upright and keep the pack stable while rolling. This would make airport and city travel much easier, while still protecting the backpack and gear until it’s time to hit the trail.
What
My approach is to design a modular wheeled travel bag that’s purpose-built to fit a fully packed hiking backpack (60–70L). Unlike regular duffels or rolling luggage, this bag would: Have a sturdy upright frame with wheels for easy rolling through airports and cities. Be sized and shaped specifically to hold a backpacking pack securely, without slouching or bulging like in a moving bag. Use durable, weather-resistant fabric to protect straps, buckles, and gear during airline handling. Include lockable zippers for security when checking the bag. The idea is to make airport travel smoother for backpackers
How
This idea makes travel easier and less stressful for backpackers. Instead of struggling to carry an oversized moving bag or risk damage to a pack on flights, travelers would have a protective, wheeled solution that: • Reduces the physical strain of carrying a heavy bag through airports and cities. • Protects backpack straps, buckles, and gear from damage during airline handling. • Makes the backpack secure and check-in ready with zippers and a sturdy shell. • Keeps the bag upright and easy to roll, saving time and effort between flights and transit. • Provides a smooth transition from airport to trailhead — the pack stays packed and ready to go once removed from the wheeled case.
