“Hack the Home” is your opportunity to dream, hack and build your idea for the home of the future with help from the best and brightest in the industry! The FirstBuild Hackathon is coming up in September, and we are here to answer any questions you may have. Below are answers to frequently asked questions to get you started. Q: Where is the Hackathon?
A: The Hackathon is located at First Build (333 East Brandeis Avenue Louisville, KY 40208).
Q: When is the Hackathon?
A: The Hackathon is September 15-16, 2018.
Q: What’s the goal of a Hackathon?
A: The goal of the Hackathon is to innovate, create and build the next generation of features and products for the home.
Q: Do I need to form a team before I sign up?
A: No, you do NOT have to form a team before signing up. You can either come with your team or join one here.
Q: What if I don’t have a project idea?
A: That’s OK! If you don’t have a project idea, you can come and generate the idea on site, or join a team with an idea you like.
Q: What should I bring?
A: Bring brain power, energy, a desire to innovate and create—and a blanket if you plan to stay here overnight.

Q: What should I NOT bring?
A: Do NOT bring any firearms or other weapons. Please also note that you MUST wear long pants and closed-toe shoes to participate. (No shorts, skirts or sandals!)
Q: What meals will be served?
A: A Hackathon ticket includes 4 meals for participants:
September 15- lunch, dinner
September 16- breakfast, lunch
Snacks and drinks throughout the weekend will also be available.
Q: How much does it cost to participate?
A: Early bird pricing (limited quantity!): Free for students; $5 for professionals
Regular pricing: $5 students, $10 for professionals
Q: Do I need to bring any tools?
A: No, please do not bring any tools.
Q: How are entries judged?
A: Entries will be judged by a panel of makers and enthusiasts that will judge final projects based on feasibility, viability, and desirability.
Q: How old do you have to be?
A: You must be 18 years or older to participate in the Hackathon.
Q: When does it start, and when can I check in?
A: Check In: Between 8-10 a.m. on September 15
Opening Ceremony: 10 a.m. on September 15
Hackathon Start Time: 11 a.m. on September 15
